Virtual Technologies, Inc. (VTi) (Palo Alto, CA, USA)

Since 1990, Virtual Technologies, Inc. (VTi) has been an international manufacturer and supplier of automated hand goniometric devices with its CyberGlove® instrumented glove. The CyberGlove contains up to 22-sensors for accurately measuring every joint motion of the fingers and hand at high data rates and in real time. The proprietary CyberGlove sensors are flat, flexible resistive goniometers, which are virtually undetectable in the elastic glove. Since the CyberGlove sensors are neither optical nor magnetic sensors, they have no line-of-sight requirements, and are not affected by the presence of metallic objects.

VTi's VirtualHand® Toolkit software generates a graphical representation of the fingers and hand on Unix- and Windows-based computers, where the graphical image replicates the movement of the physical hand in real time. VTi also provides software drivers for Matlab and Softimage to aid with data analysis and graphical reconstruction.

VTi has extended its CyberGlove sensing technology to produce custom joint-sensing devices for other joints of the body, including the knee, wrist, ankle, elbow, hip and shoulder. VTi's CyberSuit® is a custom body-sensing suit which includes each of these individual joint-sensing devices, as well as a pair of CyberGloves. With our wireless data-pack option, the joint-sensing devices can be worn while moving, such as when running, skiing, etc.
