Hello Fellow ISB Members,

Please see the attached letter to read about the 7,000+ high school students who participated in NBD 2017. It was amazing! You can view some fun photos of NBDs around the world HERE.

We started with a commendable 2,000 high schoolers in the U.S. in 2016 and we progressed to 7K kids around the world this year. We have established ourselves and we are on the brink, the precipice, the edge of glory*. We can have 20,000…30,000 high school students learning about Biomechanics in 2018. But to reach these numbers we need every member of ISB to hold NBD events next year. Why is this so important? We all know that Biomechanics is wonderful and valuable. If we can reach these vast numbers, we will increase the impact of Biomechanics on human society. More people will do more Biomechanics in more places producing more health and happiness throughout the world (and so many other good things that Biomechanics produces). I believe this in my heart-of-hearts and I think this in my mind-of-minds. I ask everyone to believe and think this….or at least give it a shot. Please.

I sincerely ask ALL ISB MEMBERS to participate in National Biomechanics Day 2018. Do it one time and see that it is a blast because we are all doing it together. We can change the world by making Biomechanics the Breakthrough Science of the 21st century and we can do this in a big way.

Please also see that we have a workshop on National Biomechanics Day at ISB in Brisbane titled, “Translating Our Research For Public Consumption: National Biomechanics Day and Beyond.”

Thank you and with apologies if you received a similar note through your other societies,

Paul
