Position:  The Department of Health and Kinesiology at Texas A&M University seeks a Tenure Track Scholar in the College of Education and Human Development and the University within the broad field of Exercise Biomechanics. Candidates would be expected to make a transformative impact on the Department and University, and strengthen ties with areas of critical mass within Kinesiology, Athletics, the Integrative Life Sciences, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, the College of Veterinary Medicine, and the College of Medicine. Expertise of the candidates is expected to encompass, but not exclusive to, one or more of the following areas: gait and motion biomechanics, motor neuroscience, neuromuscular disease, neurodegenerative disorders, mechanotransduction, orthopedics/material science, tissue biomechanics, hydrogel technology, NASA/space life science, and/or aging/lifespan. Specific courses taught will be determined based on faculty content expertise and experience, as well as need of the academic unit. All tenure-track faculty are expected to teach six credit hours per semester, but reductions are granted for Assistant Professors and those utilizing external grant funds.   


 


Qualifications:  The Exercise Biomechanics Scholar position will target a high profile or transformative tenure-track faculty with high impact scholarship, and a record of active grant support from NIH and/or other federal agencies.   


Responsibilities:  Maintain a cutting-edge research agenda funded by federal grants; recruit and train grant-supported post-doctoral fellows and doctoral students; maintain a national presence in the appropriate professional societies.


Appointment: Nine-month tenure-track position with a start date of August 2019. Salary, benefits and compensation packages are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
