RESEARCH PROJECT
Sensorimotor alterations after ACL injury. Movement biomechanics and neuromuscular activity of patients who suffered a lesion to the ACL will be recorded and closely analyzed, with the goal of evaluating the role of the anterior cruciate ligament on motor control.
TECHNICAL APPROACH
3D motion capture system, Bipolar EMG, High-density EMG
WHO YOU ARE (ELIGIBILITY)
- You have a strong scientific interest in motor control
- You are motivated, self-driven, curious, and a good team player
- Preferred technical skills: Matlab or Python programming
- Desirable skills: motion capture system, bipolar and high-density EMG, knowledge of biomechanics
- You are fluent in spoken and written English
- You have a good track-record considering your research experience
- Having been awarded a PhD is a plus but not required
WHAT WE OFFER
By joining the team, you will:
- aim at publishing on high-impact factor journals and applying for more independent funding
- receive technical training to develop the skills needed for the project
- receive training in scientific writing and other soft skills
- join a collaborative projects across three different universities
- joint a multidisciplinary team including sport scientists, engineers, neuroscientists, physical therapists, and medical doctors
- become part of an international scientific network with many national and international contacts
- receive scientific and professional supervision and advice
- receive a gross salary of 40’000 € (tax-free) for 19 months
WHO WE ARE
The Team led by Dr. Cristiano ALESSANDRO investigates the neuromechanics of human movements, and in particular the sensorimotor alterations following musculoskeletal injuries using a multidisciplinary approach that combines experimental with computational methods. These studies have applications in sport science, sport medicine and rehabilitation.
The Team-leader is Assistant Professor in Sport Science at the School of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milano-Bicocca. Within the University, the Team collaborates tightly with the groups of Sport Medicine, Physical and Rehabilitative Medicine and Physical Therapy, enabling the development of interdisciplinary projects in both basic and translational science. The University of Milano-Bicocca is a young and vibrant institution, consistently listed amongst the best emerging universities in Italy for both research and teaching.
APPLICATION
This is a call for expression of interest. If you feel you may be interested, please, do not hesitate to send an email!
Please send a CV and a brief email/cover letter (shortly outlining motivations, experience and qualifications) and contact details of 1-3 referees to Dr. Cristiano Alessandro (cristiano.alessandro@unimib.it).
