One (potentially two) post-doctoral position(s) are available at the Center for Biomedical Imaging (CBI) of the New York University (NYU) Langone Medical Center. Individuals with backgrounds in biomedical imaging, biomechanics, biomedical physics, bioengineering, and electrical engineering are all welcome to apply.

Project: This highly interdisciplinary project will bring together advanced MRI methods with biomechanical modeling to improve muscle health across the lifespan. The candidate(s) will focus on the development, testing, and validation of fast quantitative musculoskeletal MRI methods, and/or acquisition and analysis of biomechanics data, to improve our understanding of skeletal muscle aging.

NYU Radiology: You will be based at the NYU Department of Radiology, in the heart of Manhattan, and you will have access to one 7T MRI scanner, two 3 T whole-body MR scanners, a 3 T MR-PET scanner, and a fully equipped radiofrequency engineering laboratory. You will be part of the Center for Advanced Imaging Innovation and Research (CAI2R), a new model of academic-industrial and interdisciplinary collaboration (http://cai2r.net/) aimed at developing new methods and new paradigms for rapid continuous comprehensive imaging, including novel rapid MR acquisition and reconstruction strategies, novel RF detectors and transmitters, and novel quantitative biomarkers. You will also have access to equipment in the Human Performance Laboratory, including isokinetic dynamometers and motion capture systems. Collaboration across research groups within CBI is highly encouraged to promote creativity and build a suitable environment for breakthrough innovations at the forefront of biomedical research.

The postdoctoral fellows will have the opportunity to build an interdisciplinary scientific network. The position will have many opportunities for professional development, including mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, grant writing, and presenting their work at international scientific meetings. The postdoctoral fellow will have the opportunity to engage in independent research within the context of the study.

Qualifications: We are looking for self-driven, creative, and collaborative scientists who are strongly motivated to acquire new skills and perform interdisciplinary research. The ideal candidates are PhD or MD/PhD with experience in biomedical engineering, biomedical physics, mechanical engineering, or related fields. Experience with muscle physiology, MRI pulse sequence programming, or musculoskeletal imaging is desirable but not required.

Salary/Benefits: The initial appointment will be for two years, with the potential to renew. NYU Langone Health offers a competitive salary and benefits package. We welcome both domestic and international applicants. Housing in Manhattan could be provided.

To Apply: Informal inquiries are welcomed and will be answered promptly. For the full application, please email a cover letter and your CV with a list of publications to Valentina Mazzoli, PhD (Assistant Professor of Radiology, Valentina.Mazzoli@nyulangone.org ).
