Director of Human Performance Science (Associate or Full Teaching Professor)
Penn State's College of Health and Human Development (HHD) is seeking a highly motivated and versatile Associate or Full Teaching Professor and Director of Human Performance Science for a 48-week, non-tenure track appointment beginning January 1, 2024. The successful candidate will lead the development and administration of an interprofessional Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in Human Performance Science, teach in the program, and support performance science activities in Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA). The position, jointly funded by HHD and Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA) will have an academic home in one of three academic departments, Kinesiology, Nutritional Sciences, or Recreation, Park and Tourism Management, and will report to the department head with a dotted line to the Deputy Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Welfare & Development in ICA.
The successful candidate will possess instructional expertise and experience in education program administration or management. Ultimately, the position will have a balance of administration (e.g., program marketing, student recruitment/admissions, advising, coordination), teaching MPS students in-residence and online, support of performance science activities in ICA, and other professional service. Opportunities may develop for contribution to develop research/scholarship through human performance science engagement with ICA and/or through expanded performance science services opportunities as the program develops.
The appointment will be either a non-tenure line Associate Teaching Professor or Full Teaching Professor based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience.
